Waiting Up For You

Description

An older picture of my character Rigai (my Ibiki/Anko child ^^) that I finally finished coloring. I haven't done any soft shading coloring in awhile and figured I needed to start working on it more. I tried to do more with the shadows than I normally do, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Only thing I'd change is the sky and moon. I wanted to add stars, but they just kept looking off and I wish I could have done something more with the moon. But I do like the glow. I also opted to keep the lines black rather than do them a darker color of what they're outlining and I really like the effect.

Basic story behind this one is Rigai is waiting up for her dad to come home from a mission at the tree house they started building together, but never had time to finish. And the later it gets, the more worried she becomes. Because as tough as Rigai is, and as much of a front as she can put up, she does care very deeply about people, especially her family. And even though it's not really touched on that much in the Naruto series, I think the hardest part of being a ninja for the kids that come from a ninja family is thinking about their parents and the 'what if's'. Because no one knows what could happen and being a military kid is probably one of the hardest things to be at times like these.

Critique is loved.

Look who it is!!!! It's RIGAI!! YAY! :happybounce:

This is such a lovely picture, I absolutely adore the composition. The moon does look super cool with the glow around it, and I love the expression on her face. Absolutely beautiful

that is very true about the army and ninja alike. Anyone that has a family member that goes away, especially to war, has to face this. I love the realism of this. I LOVE love LOVE the coloring on this one, it almost looks like water-color, the way it has soft layers in bits, like the texture in her pants, and the sky around the moon...Just lovely!

The only critique would probably be the fence. And even then it is just the coloring I think. It looks like it is the same color as the tree, and I would probably make it darker, or at least slightly less brown (as in a greyer shade of brown) for that distinction. I tend to make the colors that are farther away or deeper in shadow darker and with less color to them. You could try that if you feel like it.

All in all though, this is amazing, I love it!
